Lovely Leopard
We’ve seen animal prints appearing year after year when fall approaches… Now it seems to be given a fresh new face by pairing with fun pastel pinks and bright sunny yellow hues. Maybe it’s because I’m South African at heart (or at the very least by birth…), but of all the animal prints out there, for me the leopard is by far the most sophisticated looking… and inspires many…from street style, to high end fashion and trendsetting home decor. This fun animalistic trend was “spotted” on the runways at fashion week, featured by designers like DKNY, Emilio Pucci, Kate Spade, Tom Ford and Burburry Prorsum. Color Crush: Pastel Pink
Nothing feels more like summer more than the county fair and cotton candy…we are relieved to see color palettes toning down from last year’s neon madness, to softer pastel and sorbet shades. Add a wash of baby pink to blond hair, for those who dare! Best paired with other pastel shades, metallic gold, or neutrals like black and white of softer grays. Here’s … Continue reading Color Crush: Pastel Pink
Tropical Trend
Feeling somewhat inspired by our recent visit to Hawaii, I wondered how I would design the decor of a tropical home (if we had one!)…first thing that might come to mind is Tommy Bahama or Tiki… NO THANKS! (No offense intended, but we have a much more modern aesthetic…). Inspired by design icons like Dorothy Draper, who’s “Brazilliance” Wallpaper has inspired generations to come…today’s hottest designers like Tory Burch and Nate Berkus use this palm frond wallpaper to create the chicest of spaces. There is a way to infuse some fresh tropical style into your decor…and this tropical trend is EVERYWHERE…you just have to know where to look and how … Continue reading Tropical Trend
Bold Geometrics
A noteworthy trend taking over this year in art, architecture, fashion and home decor, is the use of bold geometrics. In vibrant hues and graphic patterns made of hexagons and triangles, using geometry in your home can add a punch! Layering patterns in a mix and match way can create unique spaces…layer a little or layer a lot… Here’s what we found inspiring and how we could recreate this look using ModShop by RoomService pieces…
Color Crush: Navy & Yellow
As a continuation of the earlier blog post “Fuchsia & Cobalt”, I wanted to show how versatile a color navy and cobalt blue can be. Shown here accented with bright pops of sunny yellows…it takes on a whole new summery dimension. Sunshine + Blue skies = Happiness 🙂
