A color trend still going strong and seemingly here to stay is the refreshing color mint. We’re not complaining either…this versatile shade is so fresh and feminine! Aqua, seafoam or mint, however you serve it, its do delicious we could just eat it!

With a decidedly retro feel, this cool hue evokes a feeling of cool summer breezes and mint flavored soft serve. Ahhhh, summer…we can’t wait for you!

This easy, breezy color works so well with neutrals and nude color palettes. Mix in vintage wood pieces, or accent with fresh florals in pale shades.

Here’s what we found inspiring, and how you could use some of ModShop’s mint colored pieces to add some fresh mint to your space…

Ombre Obsession

We are O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D with the ombre trend, from hair dye gradients, to dip dyed upholstery fabrics, this look is so fresh and on trend we just can’t stand it!  By definition, ombre means: shaded or graduated in tone. The origin of the word ombré: French past participle of ombrer, is, to shade.

Although it’s been around for a while, the ombre trend is still going strong and there are so many ways to incorporate this funky trend into your everyday life…from fashion, to beauty…ombre hair, lips or nails can make a real statement…

In home decor, D.I.Y projects of multicolored vibrant stripes, ombre wall paint techniques, or a staircase with color gradient from light to dark, it’s a “must do” look in the homes of trendsetters today! Any way you do it, you are sure to create a dramatic look that will be a focal point of your space.

In shades of aqua that fade to blue, it almost seems like the turquoise waters of the ocean, meeting the blue sky…in pinks and oranges, ombre sunsets catch fire!

ModShop is currently working on our own ombre inspired pieces, our modern ombre throw pillow collection launches at ICFF this spring. Lacquered gradient paint treatments on credenzas and dressers…we hope this fabulous trend is here to stay for the long haul.

Hola! Feeling inspired after returning from a wonderful family vacation in Mexico, I have once again fallen in love with color, and find it’s best when infused with an ethnic flavor…

I love the combination of handcrafted wood furnishings, either vintage or new, off set with vibrant colored accessories, woven rugs and hand embroidered tapestry pillows and textiles. Use colorful cactus as centerpieces, sew on Mexican pattered trims on pillows and use colorful woven Mexican blankets to re-upholster your favorite chairs… any way you choose to infuse this colorful, eclectic decor style into your life, the promise is that you’ll feel whisked away to your favorite exotic Mexican destination every time you’re in the space…

Here’s what we found inspiring, and a few items ModShop carries that could incorporate some fun, spicy style to your space…

We are SO in love with the fresh rainbow of pastel shades still dominating Spring and Summer runways this year! We can’t get enough of the baby blues, soft pinks, lavender, mint and peach hues chosen by top design houses as the “IT” trend of 2014.

The go to color resource for designers, Pantone, explains this hot trend in detail here: http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr/?pid=3&season=spring&year=2014

With so many inspiring pastel pics to choose from, here are some we feel best show how this trend should be done… from fashion to home decor. We love mixing in vintage pieces for a feminine retro look, or add warm wood accents for a decidedly more organic take on this trend. Layer prints and patterns to create mesmerizing spaces. Add fresh flowers to accent girly tablescapes…

Here’s what we found inspiring, and how you could use ModShop pieces to re-create this fresh sorbet inspired color palette in your space…
